ISNetworld is the contractor prequalification platform many operators use to check a service company before it can work on their locations. You pay an annual subscription and a one-time setup fee, both set by how many people you employ. Each operator that uses it sets its own passing grade. Until you meet that grade, your sales rep can be the best-known name in the basin and still not get the ticket.
What ISNetworld Is
ISN, the company behind ISNetworld, describes it as an online contractor management platform that helps organizations manage internal and government compliance requirements. On its contractors page, checked October 29, 2026, ISN says contractors and suppliers are searchable by 900 hiring clients, in a network of 90,000 contractor and supplier subscribers.
The point for a service company is that you submit your information once, and every hiring client you connect to can see it. You don't fill out a separate safety questionnaire for each operator that uses ISN.
What It Costs
ISN's FAQ says contractors and suppliers pay an annual subscription fee and a one-time account setup fee per country, based on the number of employees, using a three-year average. It says the subscription is all-inclusive, no matter how many tools you use or how many clients you connect to.
ISN doesn't print dollar amounts on those pages, so get your number from ISN directly. Software directories list starting prices, but ISN doesn't confirm them, and your fee depends on your headcount. Budget for the time too. Someone in your office has to keep insurance certificates, safety programs, and training records current, or the grade slips.
What the Grade Means
Each operator decides what a passing grade is in its own account. Two examples from the operators' own documents:
Apache's ISNetworld requirements, from July 2025, require contractors and suppliers doing onsite work to keep an active ISNetworld subscription connected to Apache, list an MSA or contract, insurance verification, and drug and alcohol status as mandatory, and require a grade of A, B, or C to stay on its Approved Supplier List.
Ovintiv's prospective supplier page, checked October 17, 2026, says onsite service suppliers must subscribe to ISNetworld and keep an acceptable grade, alongside a tax number, proof of insurance, and registration in OpenInvoice.
So the same grade can pass with one customer and fail with another. Ask each customer what its threshold is, in writing, before you assume you're clear.
What ISN Checks
ISN's Review and Verification Services team, which ISN calls RAVS, reviews what you submit against regulatory and hiring client requirements. ISN's contractors page names the kinds of documents it verifies: insurance certificates, written safety programs, and training records.
Before going on location I have to pop into the store for flame-retardant clothing. As much as people say safety first, it's great to know they also practice it. That's what this review is for. It's the paperwork version of showing up in the right gear.
Operators Are Still Signing Up
ISN announced on November 3, 2025 that CNX Resources, an Appalachian natural gas company, had returned to ISN, moving its operator qualification processes there and adding ISN's online training. Operators move between platforms, so the platform your customer used two years ago may not be the one it uses now. Some operators use other prequalification services instead. The only reliable answer comes from the customer's own supplier portal or its supply chain team.
When Your Sales Rep Can Start Selling
Ask on the first call. Which prequalification platform, which grade, and which other gates (MSA, insurance minimums, invoicing portal). The full gate is in how to get on an operator's approved vendor list.
Start the paperwork early. Prequalification and the MSA run on their own clocks. What an MSA is and how to get an MSA with an oil company, and then get called cover that side.
Keep the grade up after you win. A lapsed certificate can drop you below the line in the middle of a job.
Where Your Name Still Wins
ISNetworld gets you through the gate. It doesn't get you called. Ninety thousand companies can be compliant, and the operator still has to choose one. The one he chooses is usually the one he already knows. That's the part we build: your field stories, your profile, and posts in your voice through The Warm Walk-In™, so the engineer has heard of you before your grade shows up in his search. Owners can start with the page for oilfield service company owners.
Get Your Bison Walk-Around
Once the paperwork is clear, find out what an operator sees when he looks your company and your reps up. Send us your LinkedIn. We'll send back the Bison Walk-Around: five minutes of plain English on what's costing you callbacks and what we'd build. No call. No invoice. We give first. Get your Bison Walk-Around.
