The pad schedule doesn't stop for the weekend, and neither does your phone. Between the completions engineer, the superintendent, and the company man, the hours the pad didn't take are the ones your family was counting on, and staying known on LinkedIn shouldn't come out of those.
Frac sales means selling fleets, sand, chemistry, plugs, wireline, and frac water to completions engineers, superintendents, company men, and the D&C manager. The work is on the board. What you control is whether those people know your name before the next pad gets planned.
How Much Completion Work Is on the Board
Plenty. According to API, about 6,800 Permian wells were completed in 2025, about 3,600 of them with simultaneous hydraulic fracturing, and the Permian frac spread count averaged about 100 crews, 3 percent above the 2024 average. Diamondback completed 168 gross Midland Basin wells in the second quarter of 2026 and 315 in the first half. Permian Resources guides to about 250 gross wells turned in line in 2026, per its August 5, 2026 earnings release.
What Operators Say About Service Costs
Diamondback told stockholders on August 3, 2026 that it had not seen significant service cost inflation outside fuel and fuel-adjacent costs, though it expects inflation on fixed costs such as casing through the rest of 2026 and into 2027.
The service side sees it from the other end. In the Dallas Fed Energy Survey for the third quarter of 2026, the oilfield services prices-received index fell to 16.3 from 24.5, and one services respondent put it plainly: "We continue to see pricing pressure from operators."
When every bid looks the same, price is all that's left to compare, so don't let yours look the same. My liberal arts education taught me to think outside the box. If you want to solve a problem in completions, you don't necessarily want to think only like a completions engineer, because that problem would have been solved by now. Come at it the way a rocket scientist would, or a homemaker, or an interior designer, and bring over the principles of what works in their world. Then write it down where the engineer comparing bids can find it. The rep who brought him a new angle is harder to beat on price alone.
Who Calls the Next Pad
The completions engineer sits closer to the buy than most reps give him credit for. Oxy's Midland completions engineer posting from June 2026 has him on site as the company representative, helping procure materials, equipment, and personnel and approving invoices; we take that role apart in Selling to a Completion Engineer: Job Design, the Pad, and Approved Invoices. Around him sit the superintendents, the company man, and the D&C manager, and the man on location gets his own page: Selling to the Oilfield Company Man.
The Stack You Already Have
When I doubt myself, I turn around and look at the stack of evidence of all the experience I have and everything I've done, and I think, "Wait, I do know what I'm talking about." You already have a stack like that: every pad you've worked and every problem you've talked an engineer through. All of your experience is worth something. It just isn't written down anywhere the next engineer can find it.
The Warm Walk-In™ in Four Moves
The Warm Walk-In™ asks little of you because of what we learned working with field guys: they are busy, they go weeks without answering, and they are the only ones with the stories, photos, and technical detail. That is why the whole ask is one story dump a quarter and a yes on drafts.
- Capture. One story dump a quarter, typed or spoken from the truck.
- Rig up. Positioning, voice, profile, one signature offer. Four to six weeks. Yours forever.
- Run the rotation. Posts in your voice on a fixed calendar, three to five a week, never more than one a day. Your name in the right conversations. A fresh lead magnet every quarter.
- Read the quarter. A plain-English video review every three months. Saves, messages, meetings. Not likes.
After The Rig-Up, we draft each post in your voice and you approve it in writing, so you review posts from the truck instead of writing them at the kitchen table. Nobody buys The Rotation alone, and it runs six months at minimum. For the rest of the admin, see How Do I Free Up Selling Time From Admin, CRM Updates, and Follow-Up? When the Tender Decides
On a formal dedicated-fleet tender, the bid package, the safety record, and the last pad's performance decide the award. LinkedIn can help you get invited to bid. It cannot win the bid for you. And before any invitation, you need to be on the operator's list: see How Do I Get on an Operator's Approved Vendor List?
Proof From a Founder the Engineers Follow
A fourth-generation Permian service-company founder who hated marketing. His board nearly killed the project over ROI. We spent June to October 2025 building his name, then started posting for him, in his voice, with his yes on every post.
When we started, his customer base was aging out, and the younger engineers didn't know his company existed. By October 2026, the most common job title among his followers was drilling engineer. That tells me engineers follow a service man who posts like one, and I'd bet completions engineers are no different.
From Sep 15, 2025 to Oct 19, 2026: 270,955 impressions, 104,386 people reached, and followers up from 1,974 to 4,232, with 61% of them working in oil and gas. LinkedIn's Social Selling Index ranks him in the top 1% of sales professionals in oil and gas.
No name, by policy. It's his name, not ours. Read the full story.
